Regular septic system maintenance is not only required by law, but is essential to getting the longest possible life from your drainfield. Swedlund Septic is very focused on system maintenance. We try to educate and involve homeowners in the maintenance practices we recommend. Each time Swedlund Septic performs a maintenance service we will visually inspect the entire system and make recommendations if we have any concerns.
Septic tank pumping is one of the most common and repetitive forms of maintenance. Septic tanks are nothing more than underground filters for your wastewater treatment system. If these filters are not cleaned they will either plug up or allow solid particles to pass into the drainfield, causing the septic system to fail. Almost all septic tanks installed after 1975 have a manhole located in the cover, which is the access pumpers must by law use to pump your septic tank. It is essential to use this larger access hole in order to remove all of the solids from your septic tank.
Other forms of maintenance are: installation and cleaning of in-line filters, bacteria additives, waste strength testing, line cleaning and televising, and homeowner education and awareness.
